For the health and safety of all involved, the annual MARATHON JAM normally held on the last Saturday of February is POSTPONED.

Marathon Jam 2020 Makes History

More than 30 Marathon Jam VA Hospital Volunteers and Iron Pickers gathered at the American Legion Post 6 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina to play music for 10 hours to raise money for the Ft Bragg and Camp Lejeune Fisher Houses and honor the families of our military and first responders.

One of the most emotional aspects of the Marathon Jam is wrapping our honorees in our custom made red, white, and blue Marathon Jam Quilts Of Honor, and we wrapped more veterans and first responders than ever before (over 20!) in the course of the day. It was powerfully moving and emotionally positive for all involved.

Our Marathon Jam VA Hospital volunteers interact with and entertain veterans throughout the year, and we recognized the team leaders for the Fayetteville, Durham, Kernersville, Charlotte, and Salisbury VAs. Ron Mauer, the administrator of the Salisbury VA Hospital, told the audience at the Legion hall how important their work is to both the veterans and the staff of the VA.

He also renewed his commitment to help get Marathon Jam Hospital Volunteers in every major VA facility in North Carolina!

We are proud to announce this was also the best-attended Marathon Jam in our 16 years of working for the military and first responders, with almost 300 participants.

We wrapped 96-year-old Brig. Gen. Norman Gaddis, a Vietnam POW and a true American hero, our first Native American veterans (members of the Sappony Tribe, whose history of service to the US dates back to the Revolutionary War), as well as an active duty military for only the second time in Marathon Jam history.

We ended the night with over $10,000 in cash and checks and had substantially more pledged digitally. It was an amazingly wonderful and very successful day….

And now we are humbled and delighted to announce that because of your support:

Marathon Jam 2020 has reached our goal of $20,000!!!

With that, our 16-year total now exceeds $200,000, and all of that money stays right here in North Carolina for the families of injured soldiers and first responders.

THANK YOU.

Keep helping because it is what and how you give that makes it all possible!

2019 Marathon Jam Fundraising Totals

The final totals are in for our 2019 fund raising campaign for the Fisher Houses of North Carolina!

The final totals are in for our 2019 fund raising campaign for the Fisher Houses of North Carolina!

We want to extend our heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to all the people who sponsored the many talented and giving musicians who played at this year’s event.

All the pledges are in, we’ve tallied it up, and we are VERY pleased to announce we raised $12,500!!!

All that money will stay right here in North Carolina where it will do a LOT of good!

In addition we’d like to thank our very first major corporate sponsor Golden Corral for their generous contribution of $2,500 making our 2019 total:

$15,000!!!

All that money was raised for a GREAT cause and all who attended experienced an emotional day full of powerful fellowship and beautiful music!

As if THAT were not enough, we had the great privilege to honor Veterans and First Responders on the hour EVERY hour by wrapping them in our custom-made red, white, and blue Marathon Jam Quilts Of Honor, and folks, if you’ve never witnessed that ceremony, we URGE you to attend next year!!

As always, we want to thank American Legion Post 6 of Chapel Hill for their continuing generous support.

In all honesty, we were worried the inclement weather this year would hurt attendance, but we are pleased to report that did NOT stop our loyal Musicians OR the MANY spectators who came to cheer for the brave Veterans and First Responders throughout what was, and ALWAYS is, a truly great day.

Please know our mission of Curatus Per Music (Healing Through Music) continues throughout the year as Marathon Jam Hospital Volunteers interact with and entertain Veterans in VA Hospitals in Fayetteville, Durham, Kernersville and Salisbury.

And in 2019, with the help of former Chapel Hill Fire Chief and Marathon Jam Vice President Dan Jones and Chapel Hill Chief of Police Chris Blue we intend to extend our outreach to more First Responders who might need the support as well.

Friends, we have SEEN again and again the power of music to help and to HEAL.

THAT is our mission.

Thank you so much for your help and support.

15TH ANNUAL MARATHON JAM: UPDATE

In so many ways the 2019 Marathon Jam has been a HUGE success.

In so many ways the 2019 Marathon Jam has been a HUGE success.

In spite of terrible weather, we had a wonderful and very appreciative audience there to cheer for the Veterans and First Responders we honored on Saturday, Feb. 23rd. We wrapped ten Veterans in our custom-made red, white, and blue Marathon Jam Quilts Of Honor as well as recognizing our very first 911 Operator and the Chapel Hill Chief of Police, Chris Blue!

We played some really good music with really excellent musicians from all over the state and met wonderful people, including three of our Iron Quilters—the incredibly gifted and giving people who make the Quilts Of Honor for us by hand.

Our goal for the last three years has been to raise $10,000 for each Fisher House in North Carolina, Camp Lejeune (Marines) and Fort Bragg (Army). We are on the way and you can still help…

We have raised a little over $14,000, and if we can just get to $16,000, we could send $8,000 to each Fisher House!

Remember: every little bit helps. Marathon Jam is an official nonprofit 501(c)3, so your donations are tax deductible.

Please help us help the families of injured soldiers here in North Carolina!
