Ashe County’s New River Chapter of the Military Officers Association of American is bringing the first annual acoustic music Marathon Jam to Ashe County. The Jam is a community service with the cooperation and the support of the member veteran’s organizations of the Ashe County Veteran’s Coalition and partnership of the Ashe County Arts Council, USAA, Rooster Ridge Arts, and Marathon Jam’s founder musician John Santa.
John Santa will have the honor of playing host to the first annual Ashe County Marathon Jam! The event will be held at the Ashe County Arts Council from noon to midnight.
There will be music and food as well MANY honored guests but we are most excited to welcome Lorrie Sutherland, the house manager of the Ft Bragg Fisher House and Josie Callahan, the house manager for the Camp LeJuene Fisher House to both the mountains and this our first Ashe county MJ! All the tax deductible donations raised at this event will be presented to these North Carolina Fisher Houses who provide so much care, love and support to the families of our injured soldiers.
In addition to the many local musicians who are coming to play, Boone resident and rising star WILLOW DILLON, of the band Strictly Strings we be co-hosting so here’s your chance to come meet her and play some music with the youngest Team Captain and youngest Iron Picker in Marathon Jam history!!
All are welcome, and every musician who plays will get a free ACMJ military olive drab T shirt but we would love to see a lot of black T shirts there (ie, Iron Pickers—the musicians who play the ENTIRE EVENT) because there seems to be some skepticism about playing music for twelve straight hours in the higher elevations!!
Please come help show ’em how it’s done and go home with your very own Ashe County Marathon Jam T shirt!!
